Mint condition, Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Sea Dweller in stainless steel with black nipple dial and white verbiage for “4000 ft – 1220 m”. It is an Oyster Perpetual Date - Swiss Made model. The date comes at 3 o’clock. The hours are represented with circle, triangle at 12 o’clock and batons at 6 and 9 o’clock. The watch has an outer bezel with graduation every 10 seconds. The hands have a Mercedes style with beautiful luminous. The Rolex Sea-Dweller was the first diving watch outfitted with a helium escape valve at 9 o’clock. It is a stainless steel screwed case with engraved outside “Rolex Oyster Original Gas Escape Valve”. The watch is a Z484… serial number. The watch comes with an automatic movement with caliber 3135 and 31 jewels. The watch has a stainless steel band with reference 93160A and a double clasp buckle. The watch comes with tag, box and paper.
Rolex launched the Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller in 1967, a watch that was water-resistant to a depth of 610 meters (2,000 feet). The model was requested by the Comex S.A. industrial deep-sea diving company and was therefore fitted with a helium escape valve.
In 1905, Hans Wilsdorf founded in London “ Wilsdorf & Davis” a wholesaler company. The same year, he signed a contract to distribute the Aegler wristwatches brand in UK. In 1908, he creates his own brand called “Rolex” abbreviation of “Rolling Export”. In 1914, Wilsdorf won a class “A” rating certificate from the Kew observatory in England. In 1914, “Les Fils de jean Aegler become Rolex Watch Co. Aegler SA, Manufacture d’Horlogerie”. In 1920, Wilsdorf founded “Montres Rolex SA” in Geneva. In 1926, he patented a watchcase with a screw down crown. In 1927 the “Oyster” was born when Mercedes Gleitze crossed the Channel in 15 hours and 15 minutes. In 1931, came the “Perpetual”, then the “Datejust” in 1945. Since 2000, Rolex makes its own movements and produce over 700,000 watches a year many being iconic like the Daytona, Submariner or the Prince to name a few.
